Sonar 4 and MIDI issue

I am working on a complex keyboard arrangement in Sonar using Hypersonic. On the simpler parts it;s fine. However when It gets to a complex part (Three quick chord changes three octaves played at a time) it freeks out. It's as if the time clock drops it's speed. It affects the whole song when it happens.

I'm using an Athlon 64 3000+ (32 bit os) with 1 gig of RAM, And soft synths only. Any idea what this problem may be related to or how to stop it? I have frozen the track and it's fine as a wave so it must be the midi.

What's your motherboard? It doesn't have issues with your other hardware, as far as you know, does it? I'm not familiar with either of your software tools, but does Hypersonic do the "sounds" (VSTi) of your synth parts? Can you mute each part, do a loop where it whacks out and add them in one at a time and see what's offending? How about CPU usage?

I'm using a Gigabite 8N Ultra 9 MotherBoard. Th problem is that it is no consistant. Hapens unpredictably. Ye Hypersonic is doing the synth parts. CPU is at 28%.

Have you tried upping the polyphony count? Hypersonic might be the culprit here. If you dont have the polyphony high enough it will steel notes. Meaning it will sound out of time as the older notes drop off to make room for the new notes.

Also, you might look at your buffer settings as well. I dont think the buffer settings would be the cause of it, but you never know.

ok, this is sounding like the culprit. Where do I adjust this setting in Sonar? I did not see anything about it in the help file. In the Hypersonic plugin, there is a setting on the pad called outputs. It currently has 4, but can go to 16. Might this be what your speaking of?

No, the outputs are just that. They are the number of audio outputs it will configure itself for and show to whatever application is hosting it, in your case Sonar.

I have never used Hypersonic but a quick look at it on their website I would thin it might be in the setup menu. Click that button and see what is available.

It might be labeled voices or something of that nature. If that doesnt do it then I might suggest going to the Steinberg website and under porduct/Hypersonic go to the Additional data page and download the FAQ's PDF file and read in there. It might give some instight as to what is happening for you.
