correct way to connect my rack gear

i just got my first pieces of rack gear.. an alesis 3630 and a bbe 482i, and need some help connecting them and such. for starters, i have a soldano astroverb 15 watt all tube head without an fx loop, so thats out of the question.

my current setup is as follows: miked amp running into a behringer 1204fxpro mixer, then from the mixer into my m-audio breakout box/soundcard. my only options are to run my alesis and bbe off of my mixer, correct? would i run them out of the aux out and back in to the aux ins on the mixer? would i just daisy chain them and run the bbe first, then off to the alesis, then back to the aux ins on my mixer? or should i run them in to opposite order?

is there anything special i should be doing? let me know and thanks in advance

try connecting it and see what it does.

Read the manual. it should answer all of your questions.

hmmm well I'm not familiar with that mixer, or the units you are talking about and am to tired to really dig for em right now, but heres what I suggest.

First off I need to know how you wanna use em, but what I would do is run them through the effects loop on your mixer if it has one.

I would run the BBE and Alesis in the aux loops on your mixer...

I suppose I'll just buy a new amp with an fx loop. Anyone interested in buying a Soldano Astroverb? lol

Yeah, I'd run them through the aux sends on the mixer; seperately or in series depending on how many you have. If you run them in series I'd put the compressor first because it would seem to defeat the purpose of the sonic maximizer if you put it after. What do you guys think?

Someone said that a few pros like to put the BBE right AFTER the guitar and BEFORE the amp, but what do you think? If I did that, would I need some sort of preamp in front of the BBE and after the guitar to amplify the signal before it reaches the BBE?

Right now I have them in a series, but I just noticed that I had two Aux sends and returns, so I'll assign each of them to their own. I'm just having trouble determining if the devices are even working correctly.. I'm not too familiar with all of the buttons and knobs on this mixer yet mainly because I've never had to do anything like this before. Thanks for the reply.

Try running your guitar right into each unit and then to your amp. This way you can fiiddle around with them and get a feel for what they do without worrying about other factors. When you get comfortable with the controls set them up through the loops. I use an array of stomp boxes in a pedal board I made and run them all in series after my guitar and before my amp. I've always liked that more vintage tone you get from that especially delay, but hey experiment and see what happens.
