Hey guys
Im thinking about the pros and cons of buying either a Alien and Heath live sound desk or a soundcraft desk. Both would be at least 16 channels. i like the soundcraft beacuse it is very very good for recording but the alien and heath seem to have more busses and group sends.
What would you recomend ? im also looking for cost. I would like to be able to do live recoridngs as well as mix pritty well full bands etc etc.. live.
the Sound craft would proberly be a Spirt FX16 not sure about the heath version though.
Any thoughs would be aswome thanks

Apr 17, 2005 07:28 pm Well, here is a comparable Allen And Heath unit.

Close, but with extra routing and buss capability.
The Sound Craft does have onboard FX which may or may not be needed. My personal choice is Soundcraft, but Allen and Heath are not slouch either. So it is really a matter of exactly what you need to get the job done.
HOnestly 16 channels is not alot in a love situation when you want to record a full band. But with creative micing you can definately get by. It is the routing and bussing that is important if you are going to record with it as well. Especially if you plan to record live as well.

Apr 17, 2005 10:46 pm hmm the sound craft is what im heading towards at the moment. Allen and Heath have got aswome desks when you start looking at there more Pro level ones.
I would want to record with it buts first and most used use would be just live sound.
Would the sound craft be good for live bands ? u know the pub gig maby a bit bigger 100 people sort of venu ?.
Apr 18, 2005 01:24 am Im loving my 16:2 mix wiz aye. Ive used it at live gigs before as well, but dont use the built in FX in the studio.
The thing that swayed me towards it most were the class A pre's, the direct outs, and the number of Aux channels.
