Posted a message on the Gear Forum but realised it's probably better suited here
Can anyone give an opinion on the Yamaha dsp 2416 + AX44 box as I am still looking for a good sound card and the price for this beauty is very interesting.

Mar 31, 2005 10:28 pm What is the price? Do you have a link to a spec page as well? I have note heard anything really astounding about this set up as yet. And have heard comments as well about several driver and compatability issues.

Apr 02, 2005 12:58 am Kaos, in all honesty that card and set up was nothing but headaches for those I knew who used them. they had major driver issues, and from what I can see now they have not updated the drivers since may of 2001. That is not a very good thing when dealing with digital audio. It also from what I remember limits the number of inputs when running on Windows XP and even under Windows 2000 or Me. In all honesty you would really have money better spent on something newer.
Are you currently using recording software? And if so what is it if I may ask? You really might be better off looking at the M-Audio Delta 2496 or similar card. They would be much more current, and the audio ratings of such cards are a bit higher then the Yamaha card.

Apr 02, 2005 06:38 am Thanks N2U I take on board the advice. The last thing I need is a headache (I get enough of those from the beer and my wife LOL)
I have cool edit 2 and wavelab4 for the computer. And externally I have a Roland VS1680 with digital outs, scsi out or i can change the inputs 2x XLR 6xJack to outputs if required. That however is my brothers Which I can use henever I want.
Looking again i see an M audio 66 if i can get it at good money. Or a MAYA 44????

Apr 02, 2005 01:08 pm The M-Audio Delta 66 is a great interface. It has the breakout box with 4 analog inputs and outputs. And as well has S/PDIF i/o on the PCI card itself. I have used the Delta 44 for years with no problems at all. And their driver support has been very up to date so far.
The MAYA 44 is a bit on the lower end of the scale. although it is a great card, it is meant to be geared a bit more at entry level. I am not sure about their driver support so I cant comment on that.
