Hey there guys...
i have the Firewire1814 audio interface, but i have this major problem with the sample rate..
i cant set the sample rate more than 44100, but in the specifications of the interface, says it supports up to 96000, if i'm right!
when i try to set the sample rate more than 44100, the whole mixer for the interface goes to gray (disabled buttons) ,therefore i cant record or playback anything..
ohh and i have the latest drivers from the website!!!
any help?

Mar 27, 2005 11:38 pm Have you tried updating the drivers to the latest version. Or possibly uninstalling then re-installing them. Maybe your recording software doesnt support using anything higher. If it does check and see if that is what is causing the problem as well. But that should not be the case.
Mar 28, 2005 08:49 am As i'v said, i have the latest driver...

Mar 28, 2005 06:12 pm OK, are you trying to set the sample rate in the Delta control panel? If not, that is were you need to make the changes. It sounds as thought you are trying to set the recording software for it without changing it in the Delta control panel first. You need to open the panel and go to the Hardware tab and change it there first.
If that doesnt help, I suggest contacting M-Audio's tech support.

Mar 28, 2005 07:06 pm What doesn't make sense is that when running an application at 96KHz/24-bit, the mixer app basically goes "dumb," meaning nearly all of its controls are grayed out and you cannot adjust levels at the mixer level. The assumption is that you'll adjust them at an application level. This is fine for an application like Cubase SX/SL/SE, which has its own internal mixer. However, an application like SoundForge does not have its own mixer, so if you need to adjust levels, you can't toggle over to the mixer and change an input's level. You can do this if your resolution is 44KHz/24-bit, which is some recompense, but not being able to make a level adjustment in flight for an app like SoundForge just doesn't seem like good design.
Another gripe is that the mixer remains in this "grayed out" state even after the application exits from memory. According to M-Audio, this is a feature and not a bug. A company official explained that by leaving the mixer essentially frozen, you preserve its state so that if you go back into that application to do some additional tasks, your mixer state is preserved. We're not buying it. The mixer application has a state snapshot save/load feature that covers this issue, and the only way to bring the mixer back is to press the "reset" button in the mixer application, and then full functionality is restored. So M-Audio should seriously consider dropping this state-freeze "feature" from its next driver release.

Mar 28, 2005 07:37 pm Well that explains that. And not to dis M-Audio or anything, but it also explains why I have switched my main interfaces on 2 PC's to ESI interfaces. Very good interfaces, and the drivers seem as up to date as M-Audio and function fine.
