right im really going in circles now
If anyone can answer this simple question you will of saved me a lot of time
Im at teh final stage of my mastering, Im using cubase SX with izotope plugin. Im using Izotope to maximise my song for CD.
Basicaly do i set the out put volume of izotope to minus 0.3 Db (becouse of Cd players)
or do I just set the margin db on the maximiser t0 -0.3db?
This is really improtant as im distributing my album soon and dont want people complaining.
Thanks
Gaz

Mar 23, 2005 11:28 am I've never used Izotope, but it sounds like it has a limiting function that you're using. Setting the limit (output volume) to -.3dB is a good idea, but watch out when setting the input volume (which is probably the 'maximizer' stage you refer to). Set it to a level where it gives a good presence, but not so high that you can hear the limiter pumping in order to keep the volume below your limit.

Mar 23, 2005 03:00 pm Yes set the Margin dB on the Maximizer to -.03 and then pull down the Threshold till it's where you want it. Also if your getting any peaks on the Input side lower the input slider (or use the Auto Normalize) to prevent any over's there.
