Mar 23, 2005 08:59 pm Only diferance is possibly price. And the fact the 2496 does not have the onboard emu chip for producing general midi sounds. Meaning the Emu has its own onboard GM synth chip. Just generic sounds really so no big deal if you allready have softsynths or an outboard synth.
Mar 24, 2005 02:45 pm They are currently the same price at Musician's Friend ($99). It seems that they are a horse apiece. I own the E-MU 0404. It does what I need it to do. It has onboard effects, which are nice because it takes some of the load off of the CPU. I don't know if the 2496 has that.
The only reason I bought the 0404 over the Audiophile 2496 is because The Guitar Center had the 0404 in stock, and I would have had to order the 2496.
