discontinued? isn't that a pretty new product? it must have been very troublesome then...which doesn't give me good vibes. They sold it to you, they got your money, they owe you support.

The best I can tell you is to make sure youhave the latest drivers from their web site before they pull them all down...which they may or may not do.

I think the FirePod replaced the Firestation....

I run a FirePod Drake, what kind of problems are you having? Are you running Windows XP SP2? I had some issues with SP2 and the Firewire connection with the FirePod...ended up changing back to SP1 and it runs like GOLD!

Let me know what problems you are having, maybe I've encountered something like it.

thanks af... i'm on XP SP2, i think the biggest problem i'm having is with the mLan stuff. does the firepod use mLan? i can't seem to get the drivers to install properly, regardless of how well i follow all the directions.

you say reverting back to sp1 helped you? i'm not sure i know how to do that...

The FirePod doesn't use MLan, I have heard about a bunch of problems with MLan...did you run a full Windows XP install that included SP2? If so you are stuck with it, if you did a SP2 update via the web you should be able to go into add/remove programs and remove SP2. Presonus doesn't guarantee that the FirePod will work with SP2 so I would guess that the Firestation definately wouldn't. Your best bet might be to try to get SP1 on your PC and go from there, maybe even Windows 2000? What OS does it recommend in the manual?

It's too bad Presonus wouldn't help you cause they were more than helpful with me...that's a bummer dude.

What is even more sad is that they haven't updated their drivers to work with SP2...not much for customer support on a few levels it appears...

The support they gave me while I was having trouble was great, I am confused as to why they won't help Drake, maybe I just got the "nice" guy...they are releasing new drivers for SP2 shortly that will also allow "stacking" of multiple FirePods, not sure if they are planning on releasing new drivers for the Firestation. I think they are avoiding support for it due to the fact that the whole MLan connection was never very stable, I have heard this before.

As for the mLan comments. Yes indeed it is very unstable right now. It will work with a very limited amount of Yamaha gear at the moment. The couple other gear makers who have adopted mLan are having major issues getting the stuf to co-operate. I see it being a great idea, but as well limited to one companies proprietary gear and stuff. Another Pro-Tools is what it really boils down to.
