Hey folks, I have a new tune to feedback. I used a new drum sampler on this song and wanted to get some feedback. Trying Battery 2. How do things sound? Mind that this is not a finished mix, and I ran it through Ozone real quick to ready it for listening. It's called Eyes of Pearl Gray, and YES it is another sappy love song. I swear one day we will put out somthing a bit more meaty.

Too sweet for my taste, but well done. Except maybe bright cymbals on the refrain, they should be lower and not so uniform, they should follow the guitar note change imho

Thanks Edvo,
I agree about the cymbals. I pulled a kit in, an made some adjustmentss. But I'm trying to find just the right sound for that part. Thanks for the feedback.

Very nice sound on the acoustic. Great song, man there are parts where you almost sound McCartney, and this is a song I could hear Him doing. The change to Maj 7th and to minor are really cool in the chord progression. Real nice vocals, the drums sound good but the snare sounds a little muted to me but that could just be my speaker system, it always seems to be a low end heavy.

Another top effort there philtyone!

Thanks OD. McCartney huh? I will have to tell Jerod that. He is the one singing. I suspect he will get a kick out of it. Great compliment.

I will continue fussing around with the drum samples until I get it just right. Thanks again for the feedback :-)

You know, I do not think I could actually live without highspeed internet access anymore. Amazing how life changes.

*listening*

omg i love the softness of the acoustic guitar strums!!!(is that a thin pick?) thank you for not drowning it in reverb too......i think the drums need to come up some...if you can "legnthen" the snare some, it'd be perfect....the cymbals are a bit harsh/thin (maybe come down 3db's around 16k)... and i'd really like to hear some vocal overdub backups on the chorus!

strong points are the vocals, guitar, and snare...those all sit nicely

not so stong would be the cymbals...if i had to crank this up in anykindof PA system, it'd hurt.
kick can use a bit more balls at around 100hz..

other than that, it's a good tune, and i can see it on some kind of tv show love montage. (and i mean that in a good way)

peace

Thanks WYD. We are completely rebuilding the drum samples for this song. I picked up a copy of Battery 2 and man is it cool.
Good ear on the acoustic. It is a thin pick, used for the exact reason you mention. I am a strong supporter of less reverb. It seems to be the most overused effect. Many times if I think I need some Verb, I'll use a delay. Seems to be a bit less soupy that way. It's amazing all the little things that start to add up when your recording.

Mate, i really enjoyed this song! The guitar sound is really nice. Big fan!

The drums could come up a tad, i agree the WYD.

Very smooth and powerful tune Phithyone! for some reason i can hear Freddy Mercury belting this one out!

LOL, Freddy huh? I can honestly say that I can hear it now that you mention it. Interesting.
The recording is almost ready for being put in the can. The new drum sounds I've got are pretty cool. Just puttting some finishing touches on the tune. I should be posting it next week for final apraisal.

Thanks for you comments Bleak!! :-)
