i need to know where to find a good reverb that has a rack mount, and isnt expensive. i dont need the best quality, just one that doesnt make me use the one on the computer. the CPU on my computer is used up WAY too much when i have any reverb effect on so i need an external one.

thanks

perhaps create a second track of whatever you are effecting, apply the reverb permanently to it, disable the dry track and you can then remove the reverb plug, if you need to change it, you can always re-duplicate it from the dry track...

I dunno, just a thought...

Also, upgrading your sonar 3 to 4 will allow you to automate that process with track freezing, plus, an upgrade won't cost much more than an outboard reverb unit.

i dont have the money to upgrade to sonar 4. and the cheapest i saw the reverb things were aroung $250... i was just wondering if there were cheaper ones.

thats a great idea though (for the dry/wet mix thing) i dont know why i didnt think of that.

ill try it. thanks dB.

eh, some other member mentioned that idea to someone else yesterday, I thought it was a good idea, I'm not really smart enough to think of that myself either...

Have a look on Ebay or somewhere for an Alesis Microverb. They are very cheap to get hold of now and dont sound half bad at all. Use sparingly they work great.

But to be honest, I use the same technique dB mentions when I run outa CPU on my older box.

ok so i dont know how to do this stuff yet because im a noob. i know what you mean by saving the wet track and opening it so the computer thinks it's the original sound with no effects running, but how exactly do i do this?

do i save it as a .wav or .mp3 format and then import it? i think thats right...

thanks

I have the TC300 and it works alright , you can get the entry level Lexicon for 200$ and lexicon gear is not bad.

You simply copy the track you want to add the reverb to so you will have the original one without reverb and the second one you can apply the reverb perminantly to the second track while muting the first. As dB stated above you can then try mixing them both together for a differant sound. And as well if you dont like the reverb you have selected you simply delete the track and make a new copy and try again.

I agree with Noize2u and Geoff, the Alesis Microverb is really nice for a cheap reverb, or the Lexicon MPX 100 is really nice as well. Plus you get more effects with the Lexicon.
