I have now decided enough is enough and I have to get a beeter soundcard. So Trolling thru ebay (finances are tight) I have the following options a 2496 or 1010lt or an Audiotrak inca 88?(never head of it tho) So which one do i choose. As stated in my profile I have a roland VS1680 so should I Just stay with the 2496 or would the 1010lt be worth the extra money. We will be doing a lot of live recording in the studio (outbuilding where it's firkin COLD!!!!)(but the beer warms us up :-).
Look forward to your wordly wise opinions

Mar 01, 2005 09:15 am Weeelllllll, kinda depnds what you need. COnsidering you are doing live recording I would not consider the 2496, as it's two in and two out.
The inca 88 looks interesting and it uses ESI/Audiotrak's E-WDM driver, which I can say first hand is awesome. Plus it's got a breakout box, whereas the 1010 is just a bandle of wires...
tough call, I may lean toward the Inca...tho be aware it is no longer in production. I see Audiotrak does offer a upgrade discount to move you up to a Maya1010 when you want to...

Mar 01, 2005 09:20 am My thinking was that as I have the VS1680 (16trak) I would use that for recording then dump everything into softare on the PC (but ofcourse that would by trak by trak. taking a long time)
I like the look of the Inca 88 and for 50.00gbp I hope I can't go wrong. The only advantage I see with the 1010lt is the XLR pre-amp imputs but hey I'm not a proffessional sing just the guy who uses sledgehammers on skins...LOL
Mar 01, 2005 09:25 am There are a couple members here that really haven't thought much of the pres on the 1010.

Mar 01, 2005 09:31 am OK that helps.. Been looking further at the Inca and it does have preamps on 1+3 so hey looking good. OHHHHHHH infact I have the choice of 2 according to ebay. I also looked at the upgrade and for 149€ (for us in france) that could certainly be worth while. Thanns for the quik response dB.
P.S. glad to have joined the PRO section I am sure I won't regret it one little bit cause with the advise I have been given since I Joined a month ago The amount you ask for is stupidly LOW!!!! The advise has saved me weeks of work and months of learning..
Mar 01, 2005 09:43 am hehehe, well, there is a big difference between "stupidity" and just not knowing... ;-)
