Audiophile 2496/Win XP Problems

Hi,
Wondered if anyone could help with my latest problems.

Installed Audiophile 2496 card on my computer the other night and now I must press ctrl/alt/del to enter winXP and the welcome page plus I now have no stadby setting on exiting winXP.

More significant problems are that within Sonar 2XL I can no longer hear the metronome during recording/playback and I cannot hear 'Session Drumer' any more, which I used to use for timing, etc. when laying down a guide track.

I still have an old SB Live card. Would I be OK running both on Sonar and routing the Session Drummer through this? Is this possible?

Thanks in advance for any help,
Steve

I am not sure what "session drummer" is, but I am guessing it's relying on MIDI sounds from the sound card.

The issue with the Audiophile, which is a nice card, far superior to SB Live in terms of sound quality, is that it does not have a MIDI wave table of it's own. In other words, it doesn't have sounds built in it. It has MIDI ports and the ability to ship MIDI information to and from other components and can be programmed to send MIDI info itself. But the sound needs to be in software or in other devices the MIDI signal is sent to. That for sure is the issue with your metronome.

I use Sonar 4 Producer, and personally, I make my own metronome by using a simple drum beat, or even just a simple hihat track. You can make one in about 5 seconds if you have a virtual instrument drum machine that uses wave file sample rather than MIDI samples. Something like Velocity, Battery, DrumCore or the like.
