Light pipe useage?

Anyone familiar with the use of fibre-optic interfaces on audio equipment in general? How about on an Alesis XT-20 ADAT? An old guillemot ISIS studio? I cannot find any documentation from Alesis for it's use, other than their with own stuff, nor from Guillemot concerning ANY use of the interface. I have no idea if it does 8-tracks or just stereo. What I'm wanting to do is transfer tracks (8) off the Alesis ADAT to the computer hard drive, thru the Guillemot ISIS, using the light pipe. Any other ideas?

I used to have an ADAT XT, and it had a Toslink jack on the back. It could send all eight tracks out at once, assuming you had the appropriate hardware on the other end. I'm not familliar with ISIS...

Yeah, I'm familiar with the XT Toslink, sort of. They at least mention it in the manual and that it can carry stereo or all 8 tracks. The ISIS (which I want to dump but have no funds to replace it with) makes mention in the manual that it has one, but nothing about its use. The ISIS was a PCI card, with a break-out box, that could do 8 in & 4 out, at 44.1 or 48kHz, 16 bit only. Win95, 98 & ME only. It does not like VIA chipsets, and the list of negatives just go on & on... It'll be another 2 weeks before I get all the gear together in one place to try out a transfer attempt.
