Novice getting started with a Delta 66

Hey guys,
After installing my Delta 66 card a few months ago, I had a friend install windows XP and now I can't find the control panel icon on my desktop so I can adjustthe levels (well, I can't get any sound either). I tried to install the new drivers from the website but Windows tells me that I shouldn't install it because it doesn't have a recognizable microsoft logo? Any advice would help me from pulling my hair out!
Also, I am in need of some advice as to what recording software I should use and what pre-amp is good to use for guitar and mic. I don't know jack about this stuff, but would like to get my computer set up so I can just plug in and play. Thanks for any help.

Disclaimer: This is just my experience, i'm no expert!!!

I've got a Delta 44, which is the same as the Delta 66 except it has no MIDI/SPDIf interface, just the analogue section. I had the message about "no recognizable XP logo yada yada", but i've been told that most of the time you can ignore this, especially if you trust the site creator and it says the driver is for XP. I just installed it anyway and have had 6 months of trouble free recording with my Delta 44.
Hope this was of some help, let me know how you got on.

Yea man, thanks. I asked a friend of mine and he told me the same thing. Do you have any advice as to what software to use? Do you use a pre-amp for your guitar before you plug into the break out box?

I installed the new driver but I still can't get a signal on the control panel of the Delta. This is frustrating as all hell. Thanks for your respone. I appreciate it.

If you are micing your gutiar, you will definitely need a preamp. You can use preamps found on most mixers, or you can get a dedicated stand alone preamp. You will have to do research, but if you list your budget, maybe folks can point you in the right direction.

Prolly cuz you're not using a preamp and the signal is not loud enough.
