MOTU w/XP & Cakewalk 9 no signal in MOTU

I recently purchased a MOTU 828 mk1. I am attempting to use it with Windows XP pro and Cakewalk Pro Audio.

At this point I have installed the MOTU software (with the hardware unplugged and off).

I’ve set the MOTU as my default device for recording and sound playback in my Sound and Audio Device Props.

In the Cakewalk Audio Options, I’ve highlighted the MOTU devices – input and output - in the Drivers tab and I’ve set the MOTU as both my Playback + recording timing master in the General tab.

When I plug my guitar into the MOTU 828 Input channel 3 (I don’t have the correct lead for the first two inputs) I can see the signal register on the Analogue Activity LED’s.

I can hear the general pc sounds (when you open up folders, start-up etc) through a monitor connected to the MOTU, but no sounds from my guitar.

The only thing is I am not getting a signal through Cakewalk on any tracks - I am selecting the track source as MOTU

Can anyone give me some advice to help me resolve this issue?

Cheers,
Matt

Could it be Windows recording mixer? Double click on the speaker in your system tray (bottom-right of screen), click Options then Propertiesand select Recording. Make sure Line Input is checked.

Cheers,
Marty.

have you armed the track in cakewalk to record, i know in sonar it won't let you hear it until an audio track is armed for recording...

my two cents
