How should I go about recording electric guitar?

I have a mesa boogie combo amp and I plan on recording both heavy and calm music from it. I have a pretty decent condenser as well as a few shure beta 58s. I also have a digi002 rack that connects to Protools. Please help.

boogies are awsome amps to mic!!!

for heavy stuff, i'd throw a 58 (with the windscrene removed) right on the grill, and stick a large diaphragm condensor about 2 feet back, be sure to check phase though! i got a massive sound with this setup...
