sound playback/recording in sonar

im running sonar 4, and when i record digital audio the tracks which i already have recorded will slow and distort as i record new audio thus throwing off timing and making it nearly impossible to do descent recording. it is my guess that perhaps it is my onboard sound which i am currently using (nvidia nforce 3 audio chipset) and it cannot handle the demand of recording and playing back so much audio info. are my assumtions correct and would a new soundcard such as an m-audio delta 410 (or 1010lt) fix my problem? thanks a ton!

yeah also goto Options < Audio and move the slider all the way to the right (safe) then click the performance tab (i think) and raise the buffers, i get that all the way up to 256 when workin with alotta audio...you gotta find a sweet spot with it though.

good luck
