I am looking to buy 8 focusrite preamps and i need a firwire interface to get them into the PC. All 8 channel interfaces seem to come with their own preamps or have 1 or 2 on them that i dont need or want to pay for. Is there a product for me or am i missing something. also can someone explain difference beween 96KHZ and 192 KHZ sampling rates, the products iv been looking at seem to have a variety of both.
thanks

Jan 27, 2005 09:16 pm I believe the RME fireface 800 meets your needs.

The sampling rate is the resolution of the frequency... where bit rate is the resolution of the dynamics (loud vs softness). Basically the highest theoretical frequency attainable in a format is half of it's sampling rate... This is important becase even though generally people only hear frequencies from 15hz to 18khz they have been able to detect that something is different at frequencies up to 50khz. I believe these are called "upperlevel harmonics"

Jan 28, 2005 01:00 am that looks cool, it's twice as much as the motu 828mkII, even though that has preamps that you don't want.
