The Best Sony Mini Disk Recorder for a Drummer?

OK, my first post, be gentle. I have spent the last hour studying threads on Sony MD's but I'm just as unsure now as when I started.

I want to make “sketchbook” quality recordings of my solo practice sessions and also of our rock band rehearsals. Just the MD and stereo mic/s is all I need for now. I would like to get the model with the most potential. Buy new budget – as much as say $250 for MD and Mic/s.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

My sincerest apologies Johnny Hero. You ARE Johnny on the spot and I appreciate that.

I did skim the rules, but having this relatively innocuous rule embedded in with the rules concerning the truly nasty stuff threw me off. I would never do that nasty stuff so I passed right over it.

No biggie. It's a common mistake. Just don't do it again and everything will be cool.

I had a sony mzn707 that I was referred to by a drummer friend of mine. His drummer brother would set up the thing and record a whole night's playing on one disk. I purchased a sony ECM-MS907 (i think). The recordings have been very good, though I couldn't dump the recorded track(s) back into the computer easily. You have to play it normally and record it into the computer. Hopefully sony has added a transfer to PC ability as it's a pain in the butt.

For those who are interested:

I posted this same question on one of my favorite drummer forums and had a successful conclusion to my need.

Here is a link to that discussion:
