Well it does have good specs indeed. I looked at one when they came on the market but wasnt impressed by its performance. You have to wonder just a bit when they come out with a newer product that is essentially the same in less then a year. That would be the Firepod. So unless it is a very exceptional price I dont know that I would be going that route. Their gear is a bit on the high end price wise for what you get performance and stability wise.

the firepod is simply 8 preamps, good for a non-mixer setup. the firestation has 2 pres with 8 analog I/O, plus s/pdif, midi, and optical I/O.
seems much better than the delta 1010 that i have and a similar price.

Hey Drake, just wanted to give you some kind of feedback...I bought a FirePod about 3 months ago, no complaints whatsoever! The pre's are great, no noise, no latency, good build quality, etc. I have never had any problems with stability, we'll see in time. So far I am glad I went with it, no regrets at all.

Also, the whole idea of the FirePod is that it can be run without a mixer (as stated above). I have 8 XLR/TRS preamped all with phantom power, channels 1 & 2 can also be used as direct ins. It also comes with Cubase so no worries about a compatible app. For me, this was the only unit to buy because I don't own a mixer right now. So I guess some might say it's a bit pricey but a brand new delta 1010 & a good mixer & a good tracking app are going to cost you the same or more...just some thoughts.

very true. sounds like that's the perfect thing for ya. if i didn't ever use my equipment for live gigs, i would definetely go that route maybe with a digital midi console to control the app. i already have an analog mixer and use sonar. so now i'm just trying to get something firewire with 8 analog I/O that has a great bang for buck ratio. (not to mention my delta 1010 seems to be broken!)

drake, you don't NEED to have a midi console to control the app unless thats what you want...with firewire, the signals are sent to the app, then whatever gets done in the app gets sent back through the Firepod for playback. ALL A/D is done in the Firepod...big PLUS!
