does anyone have any experience with using an extension/longer cable to connect the q10 breakout box to its pci card? the six footer included will just not cut it in my studio

i know its a 25 pin connector, and i picked up a IEEE 1284 cable (parallel) at radioshack today but am hesitant to try it out for fear of ruining my q10

surely someone out there must have tried this before

thanks for your help

There are a few Q10 owners here, I am not one of them, but I know many people that have had trouble with the same thing on other cards and using a standard cable worked just fine.

WHile if it doesn't work, I highly doubt you are gonna wreck anything.

Lost for words with all to say.

It works. I have the 20/20+ that didn't include the cable from whom I bought it from. Just go and buy a longer one, I can't remember exactly the "computer name" for that cable is. It's just a 25 pin with both male ends if it's the same as the 20/20+.

well...it seems to have worked...using the original cable, with a gender changer, into a radioshack IEEE 1284 m-m cable...let me be an inspiration to you all

Wow, sorry I was late here. I coulda told ya it would work. As long as the DB25 cable is a straight through then it will all be good. I had to do the same thing with a midi interface once and was all good. The warning was to make sure it wasnt a crossed cable as that will mess ya up.

Gald it worked out though.
