okay i got a delta 44, and im runnin windows XP....i got the outputs to work, so i can play music out of the speakers with the delta 44...

my problem is.. i hook up my MXL 990 microphone to the phantom input...and then from the output on the phantom power to slot 1 Input on the Delta 44...
so basically everything is wire from the mic to the phantom to the delta 44.(correctly)

(while recording) when i yell into the mic it will record the faintest muffle of wat i yelled..soo WATS WRONG!?? do i NEED a preamp? cuz i never used a preamp when recording with my soundblaster LIVE soundcard and the same mic.

please help..i'd appreciate it so much

you need a preamp, as you mentioned. the phantom is good only to energize the condenser mic, not to amplify the signal.

Agreed, you defonately need a Pre-amp when using a mic directly into the Delta.

I use an Audio Buddy from the original midiman now known mostly as M-Audio and I like it for a generic pre. It has worked great for the last 8 years or so.

This is from your original un-edited post. And I believe it is in that price range for sure. ART has a nice little pre as well in that price range.

I would suggest you to buy a small Behringer mixer with at least two preamps like this:

service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear

it says it's a mixer...will it work as a preamp for a mic?...and im using the mic for vocal recording. thanks

you guys are helping me out a lot, and hopefully other people who are having problems too...
i have one more question....
here's my setup

the left and right speaker connect to the subwoofer...the subwoofer connects to output 1 on delta 44.

and it only plays out of the left speaker...i figure im going to have to have two wires come out of the subwoofer, and connect one to output 1, and the other to ouput 2...

am i correct..i dont wanan be buying wires, if all i need to do is adjust something.

Yep, you should be using 2 channels out from the delta, which you can assign left and right so it will either be 1/2 or 3/4. Then you should have both a left and right input on the sub-woofer. hook them up to either the 1/2 or 3/4 outputs of the delta. And yes it will be 2 cables, one for left and one for right.
