Lexicon Omega Desktop Studio Anyone?

Hi again,

I run a DELL laptop, 2.0 GHZ, 520 MB RAM, 80 GB, with a (I believe to be) 1.1 USB port.

After receiving some helpful advice I have really zeroed in on this Lexicon Omega desktop studio system. It's 300$ which is a great price for me. Also it seems to be easy to use, and for those who can use it, it seems to be very popular.

But is there anyone here who actually USES it? I'm just about to buy it, and get started in this home recording computer-based business but I really wanted to check with someone who knows before I jump in and do it. I'm very excited about the sound possibilities.

so my questions are:

1. Does someone use this Lexicon Omega Desktop Studio and if so would they recommend it to a rookie at computer-based recording?

2. If such a system is recommended, theoretically, what would be the ideal software package? Or should I just use what comes with it?

3. Also, if I bought a microphone (like a SM57), the Lexicon USB Omega Desktop interface, and added it to my computer - barring any software/hardware conflicts - there's no reason why I can't record right? In principle it should work right? Or am I missing any vital components?

I throw myself at the mercy of those who k now.

Mike

I haven't used it, but heard nothing but good things about it.
