Insert sound

When I add an insert to a track I can’t hear what it does until I record something then play it back.

For example - I want to use guitar rig but when I add it there is no signal input registering at all within guitar rig. Cubase itself shows a signal but not the insert (until I record and playback).

I have tried the 'Monitor' button and read just about everything I could find with in the manual - No joy.

How can I route the sound through the insert I think is what I need to know

Unless Guitar Rig allows "real-time monitoring of effects and inputs", then... alas, you cannot There's a few programs out there that do allow this . Cakewalks GTP3 does . Great feature too, especially for guitars .

Incidentally, we just picked that up a few days ago, and I must say that it is quite a well designed prog... very intuitive, especially the automation features . Oh and yes, real time input monitoring with very low latency .(2.4ms)

If i use the app as a stand alone and use the Audigy (not the delta) then it works fine.

None of the effects in Cubase work in real time so that leads me to think it's a sound chain problem or just a simple config error.

I have a v-amp and Don't need to hear effects on my vocals as i record them so its not comne up as problem before.

I'll try and get a demo of GTP3 though

The Guitar rig works stand alone with the delta now but still no joy as an insert in Cubase.

GTP3 is a pretty cool app, I got to look at it when it first came out www.homerecordingconnecti...tory&id=369 and I was pretty impressed personally.

I've had a look at GTP3 and it does look great! My little problem doesn't occur in GTP3.

But that doesn't help me in Cubase with which i am most comfortable.

Basically when i press 'monitor' in Cubase should the track just register the signal? It's that simple in GTP3 and no doubt Sonar.

Is there something else i need to do?

There is, but I'm not sure as to what... Cubase isn't the problem, I thought that it may be... my bad sir .
