That should be plenty of RAM for whatever you are doing. Check the system tray, the little box in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. Do you have a whole bunch of stuff open? Sometimes you get programs that automatically turn themselves on when you start up your computer. They can run in the background and take up your memory, even though your not really using them.

If it's the same PC that you internet on, then you could be picking up adware and spybots and the ilk. They can run themselves in memory and you may not know it. I use ad-aware, and i know others use spybot.

I run ad-aware at least once a week on my work PC and always find something.

General PC speed seems like a recording-related question, at least for PCs anyway.

Cool! By the way youve got an awesome RAM there Renegade. Shouldnt be a problem if you want to run two movies at the same time I guess. haha.

Yeah, that program sounds like the same. As far as it removing proggies your not sure of, I'd remove all the others AT LEAST, actually, I'd remove the possibles as well, but that's me. I don't mind being aggressive when it comes to unwanted junk.

Also, the msgr and p2p will take up ram, I'd kill them and check again.

Though not sure of your OS, in W2K you can CTRL-ALT-DEL and click on task manager, then click on processes. This will tell you how much memory each process is taking up. Don't worry about the ones you don't know (there will be bunches) but the ones you do know, you can see how much memory they're using. I think XP works the same, though I don't have it on this PC to check.

I'm currently using System Mechanic 5 Pro (since Version 3)when dealing with the spywares/virusses and the tweakings of Windows settings. I had no slow infected computer problems ever since. You should try that out.
