I once owned a midi recorder-the alesis MMT-8. I used it with my roland U-20 keyboard. I would record all percussion and piano and then adjust each beat to compensate for my 'less than perfect' timing. I'm looking for an inexpensive replacement for that machine (it was stolen), but when I talk to the experts at guitar center, musician's frind, etc., they say "yeah, you want a drum machine." My question- can a drum machine ,like the SR-16 make adjustments to piano notes as well as drum beats? Please excuse my ignorance, but the 'experts' have me all confused. Are these drum machines the same as the old midi recorders- and would the SR-16 or something similar suit my need? thanx!

i don't know a whole lot about midi ,but i am pretty sure if the device doesn't have midi in/outs then it be in sync with your tune ,unless you get creative somehow .

..and also i find more often than not that a lot of music retailers like to tell you that you need something you don't , i think that is why these forums are so great !

I'm assuming that midi data is midi data whether it's a drum beat or a piano note. I need to be able to record and edit anything I play on the keyboard-could I be looking for a sequencer or something? I've been told a drum machine will do it. What ever happened to the plain 'ol midi recorder?!
