I love them! (Yes, another plug for these monitors here) The only thing I have to say negetive about them is the fact that the bass response is too much. I have the subwoofer with them and love it. I would personally go to a music store and hear different ones and decided which you like best. Everybody is different.

is the bass response too much even in the higher rolloff positions or just too boomy in general .my problem is that none of my dealers here carry them in store ,they are an order only basis .but i think i may dive in for the simple fact that they have so many dffierent possiblity for applications .and the features are pretty versitile for powered monitors .thank you, i think you may have kept me from buying a more expensive pair and actually i like the idea o heavy bass respone as i tend to make my mixes a little heavy on the low end once i get then into a cd player and listen back a day or two later .plus they got a really great review from a couple of other source .thanks again so much.

I'll plug my Tannoy Reveal Passives. 320$ for the passives, 750$us for the actives. I opted for the quality in monitors, but am driving them myself. I'm very happy with them. They're ported in the back, and actually tend to be a little on the plus side for bass. Though all monitors need to be learned in your environment, so small differences would be mute.

Hey, I just ordered the bx8's a couple of days ago, and they should be arriving in the mail any day now. Once I get them set up and do some experimenting, I'll let you know what I think. I"m going to test them out with a whole bunch of different styles of music. I just made the leap and bought them. The dealers I go to didn't have any for display either, so i just took a chance. I'm sure they'll be great. I'll keep you posted for a review. I'll be running them through the M-Audio 2496 soundcard.

Let us know! You will be surprised about how your mixes sound if you haven't been mixing them in studio monitors!

Hey vdalhubbard: I was inquiring about the M-Audio Bx8's and the subwoofer (see chain titled: Monitors: Event vs. M-Audio vs. Yamaha) and dbMasters advised not to get the subwoofer. Now, I've already ordered the bx8's and they'll be arriving in the mail (probably today), so I am very curious if you can get a decent sound without the subwoofer. I was shooting for powered monitors that already had a great bass response without the subwoofer (the less crap laying around the better + the extra money). I figured with the ability to adjust bass response then I would be able to get a little extra bass boost if I needed - without the subwoofer.

Anybody out there use the Bx8's without the subwoofer? And are you happy with the overall sound?

They do have a okay bass response, just not the sub sound like I'm used too. Can't really speak for dB, but he doesn't like a sub because it is a pain in the neck to adjust right and I believe he is used to not having one so why get one? The clearity of these monitors are absolutly worth the money. You made the right decision to get them. For me personally, I'm used to sub in the car, at my church were I play in the band, so I need that in my book. You won't be disappointed at all.

vdalehubbard: Thanks for the response. I'm sure I'll be extremely happy with these puppies. I'll let you and ballz86ed (I can hardly type that with a straight face...very funny) know what I think after I get'em and set them up for testing, etc. I'm sure they'll be ten times better than what I've been used to. Many a trip from the car back to the studio for adjustments...if I can eliminate that then they'll be well worth it. Thanks for the encouragement. Later. I'll post a new thread for the review. I hate it when these things get a mile long.
