afternoon all

i use an edirol pcr-50 through an audiophile with cubasis vst (... soon to be changed with cubase sx which might solve this problem...)

certain notes i hit on the keyboard have suddenly stopped triggering sounds, with no input appearing on the cubase transport bar... at first i thought i'd broken the keys, but it hasn't been used all that much, and when i do use it, i'm not exactly going like beethoven on the thing.

could something in my setup be causing this problem? any help greatly appreciated

wow. I have never used the unit you are talking abuot and am not really that familiar with midi to offer much help, but I am interested to see what the problem is caused by. Have you made sure your connections are in good, and have you rebooted your machine? I now those are obvious but yeah.. sorry I can't help any..

question, what are you trying to trigger with the keyboard? Softsynths? Instrument samples? Sometimes samples only go so far up or down. For instance if you try and play certain bass samples and hit the top most keys on a keyboard, the bass doesn't have any samples that high in the register so you get nothing. This is the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

sorry, i guess i didnt really mean trigger - im just using it as a midi input device with the vst instruments in cubase. it doesnt send anything when i hit certain keys...

hmm, I never used vst instruments, but I think trigger still works as the correct terminology when talking about midi. If they are synthesized sounds, and not playing back recorded samples, then my previous description probably is of no use.

And aside from trying a new cable, you may want to go into the options or preferances section and look under the midi settings, especially the midi input section. Then make sure it is not filtering out certain ranges of notes.

A question I will ask is does it seem to go up to a certain note and then nothing above that plays, or does it seem intermitant?

its just random notes - and not even the octvaes of them, just these single notes....

i'll have a poke round in my settings, just upgraded to cubase se so that might help things....?
