How Does This Sound As A Set-Up?

After the great information I’ve gotten from this site, I put together a rough “shopping list” to get started with my recording…

An inexpensive mixer, microphones, new soundcard (should I get an internal or external card?), and an amp simulator for guitar (the line6 pod).

I guess my only question other then “is that good?” is weather or not to get an external card.

Thanks again for the help!

sounds good, I'll recommend some things:

If you want a mixer with no built in effects: service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear

if you want a mixer with some (a compressor is always handy): service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear

New sound card, since you record by yourself, one instrument at a time (I think?)

AUdiophile 2496 service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear

Or the ESI Juli@ esi-pro.com/viewProduct.php?pid=43&page=1

External is best for laptops, if you have a desktop I would personally go with an internal...takes less space on your desk.

PODs rock.

I see you are looking at the POD...you might want to try the Behringer V-AMP out first. It is less than half the price and in my opinion is better sounding and easier to use.

I second the Audiophile 2496. It is the best purchase I have made this year!!!

Later,
Kerry
