Nov 24, 2004 05:15 am Hi Tincanbug
Well, technically, this is well put together. That aside, it never really reaches "Warp Factor 9" and drags on for several millennia.

Nov 24, 2004 06:36 am I like the way it throws images at me of films I've seen, as well as creates a few that I haven't . Good job with the samples... there's really alot of 'em, and quite the variety as well (I can see why it tool so long !) . The music isn't the TB that I'm used to, yet plays a good supporting role for the samples . Nice one, man !
"... yeah, they're all messed up..." heh heh
Nov 24, 2004 06:57 am I like it. Its well done like the start of Car Mojo and well put together.
The musical interludes I like and I just like the whole thing.
I think, it's way differetn from your other stuff Tincan, but as I say - its good. Some big hand drums fills in the intro would be cool...but - its good the way it is.
Good job and good to hear from ya bud - take it easy.

Nov 24, 2004 09:55 am Thanks guys, I know it's a bit different. It's kind of a tribute to my favorite genre. What's different about this one is the approach more than anything else, I think... This song doesn't focus on performance, really, or interesting chord changes, or anything like that - it's more industrial-oriented.
The music is there to support the clips. Only a few areas were meant to jump into the foreground and grab the user's attention, like the solos for example. The rest is meant to set the mood and create a spooky, kind of Rob Zombie "House of 1000 Corpses" feel using scifi imagery. I wanted to keep the background somewhat simple and repetitive during the bulk of the song because with so much going on the listener could get overwhelmed with intricate, complex music behind the solid wall of soundclips.
You can kind of compare this style of music to comic book art. If you look at it and say, well, it doesn't look as detailed as a photograph, that's not really getting the point. The song definitely isn't the same style as "Car Mojo - Chunk of Wood", but that wasn't at all what I was going for, so I can live with that fact. :P

Nov 25, 2004 01:34 pm I like it, lost of snippets form the sci fi genre fliks. So I guess the title fits. You definately created a Rob Zombie feel. I guess I woul only say I would like to hear the percusion come up just a tinsy bit. But maybe not. I guess on second listen it sits about right were it should.
Over-all, nice experimental tune for sure, and the guitar work fits well too.

Nov 25, 2004 09:48 pm Well met, gentlefops! I appreciate the listen. Guitar_jim, I downloaded some of the Civil War songs - loved what I've heard so far. I plan on going back for more. :) Noize, good to hear from you. Yeah, I went back and forth on the drum thing myself... The drums by themselves were actually the first tracks laid on the whole song, long before I even knew what the song was going to be for sure... I'm still getting used to the mix myself, if you know what I mean (shrugs)
