Alright, I've got a nice old reel to reel recorder sitting at music go round taunting me, just as something to have in my studio to look pretty. anyway, it's a two track recorder... heres the quesiton though, and it's relativly dumb... I have a 12 channel mixer... would the reel to reel be able to record all 12 channels simultainiously or would it only record two? Could I record a track, then go back and overdub another one?

Nov 18, 2002 04:26 am It could record all 12 channels, but it could only put them on 2 tracks. Nasically you can record a stereo sound source with as many instruments as you want in one take...but still only on two tracks.

Nov 18, 2002 09:06 pm ok so I'd be able to have a stereo recording of all twelve channels, but it would not be able to overdub or anything like that?
Nov 19, 2002 04:12 am nope. a two track reel to reel would be pretty useless to you unless you want to start a recording gear museum.

Nov 19, 2002 02:22 pm yeah, that's all I want it for really, is just to have on my dining room table as a cool thing to look at. I was just thinking since I'm gonna pay 100 for it I might as well see if I can get any use out of it.
