Recording Issues..

Peace & Blessings to all my fellow musicians. I'm having some problems that I hope you folks can lead me in the direction of finding a solution.

I recently purchased the Delta 44 system and I'm running it along side my SB Audigy 2.

Problem 1: While trying to record in CWHS, I'm expericing frequet "dropout"s.

Problem 2: When I try to run certain programs, or play audio through CWHS, I get an error message "Audio disk may be full".

How do I kill these nasty little bugs?

Thank you in advance for your time and insight.

um, what's CWHS?

oh, probably cakewalk... home studio?

um, sounds like your computer system may not be handle the recording/playback load. Is your hard drive full? uh, how big is your hard drive?

For a goof, I should make a t-shirt with the sonar 4 box and the ole red circle with the slash on the front side, then on the back have like an Adobe Audtion "plug"...THEN go to the clinic @ GC with dB and Noize....LOL

Seriously folks...I don't have beef with Cakewalk. I used Home Studio Pro 2000 way back when and had fun with it...Then I got onto a Cool Edit Pro demo (now Adobe Audition) and fell in love...if I were to "cheat" on Adobe I would use Cakewalk...

Used CW Pro Audio 9, Sonar 2.2 and now Cubase SX2 - whilst I prefer the Cubase SX maself, Sonar kicked *** and Pro Audio 9 was good when I Started for simplicity.

Canny knock the auld CW for sure.

Tho, I prefer Cubase...they are both good in their own little ways.

Dropouts may be related to the way the hardware is configured perhaps?? Maybe the way the SB and Delta are running?? I ran CW on the Delta44 (and even on the crappy stock AC97 chip on the PC) and it worked fine.

Good luck

Coco.

Coco might have something there...

I had Cakewalk on the same computer I still have now, back then it was a 10G harddrive, recording through a SB...I got dropouts...

I don't even know if Adobe Audition has dropouts happen, I haven't had one at all...Cool Edit Pro used to crash on me occasioanally but that's about it

Anyway EmCee now that the lads have a good rousting.

You will need to make some adjustments in your buffer settings. Meaning you may have your latency settings incorrect. If you are trying to get the latency to low on a system that isnt fast enough it will have inherant drop outs like that.

First I would suggest making sure you have the most current drivers for the Delta. Next double check the buffer settings to make sure they arent set to low.

Also, I should ask what are the specs of the PC you are running this on?

For the Audio disk error, it could be several things. You are low on disk space, or you may have several other apps trying to access the disk at the same time. I am not sure how home studio addresses this issue, but Sonar doesnt usually have trouble with it at all.

Also, are you trying to record at a higher sample rate then your PC is is capable of handling?

Also make sure that you are using the latest drivers for your sound cards, and that you have your version of Windows updated with the latest patches via Windows Update.

I truly appriciate all your input folks. You guys are on point. I've been dreading this part, but its just time to upgrade my PC. Basically from my processor to my music program. Keep your eyes peeled, cause I'm sure I'll have more questions in the future for The Music Masters of the Universe.

Always Musically,
