What im trying to do is add midi to my studio. I have a Mbox and a P4HP.I would like to add atleast two more ins and outs if possible..Ive tried the midisport..trash..They recomended the Motu Fastlane. Now ive seen some soundcards that have midi and ins and outs..lil more expensive but thats no deal. I would love the soundcard deal but i dont know much about them..are there any recomendations..and can the card sit in the back of the computer as opposed to the the front?????

Hey Jay, no need to be a smart alleck. It wont get your question answered any faster. Patience is a virtue, and it looks like you have only been waitng an hour for a reply here. Most members of this community are glad to get a reply in a day. And at night things slow down here a bit expecially on Sunday night. People do have lives ya know.

Anyway, I dont understand what you mean by Mididsport..trash. Who recomends the MOTU fast lane? I honestly switched form MOTU to MidiMan because of issues with the MOTU units loosing sync frequantly.
But that is beside the point.

MidiMan is probably the top dog in the world of mdi priced midi interface units at the moment.

Are you looking for a USB unit or a parrallel port unit. If it is USB unit you are looking for maybe take a look at these guys. Dependable and stabel and cost effective as well. www.esi-pro.com

Otherwise you can check out the Edirol units as well. Also go look in our Gearbag section for recomended gear and links to it.

As for adding a 1010LT, well that will only give you 1 more i/o for midi so that really isnt the answer here. And waht card sits in the fron of the computer? As far as I know most audio interface cards install and hhok up ou the back of the PC except for say the SB Audigy with the front end inputs. but tha card is usually found out the back.

Thanx for your patience.

So much for having a sense of humor....Ill trash the sense of humor ok...Yeah the delta1010 was a PCI-card..maybe thats different from a sound card? it i had a midiman 1x1 deal..it was clear blue..and it kept sending error reports to my pc.So i returned it, needless to say. The guitar center guys recomended the motu. Im more worried about having more ins and outs...not unless i would need more midi jacks...I plan on getting a Motif and another MPC. do i need more midi??? What would you recomend is more sufficient?

A PCI card and a sound card are the same thing. All internal sound cards are PCI-based.

You should only need one MIDI in and out on your PC because you can daisy chain devices together. If you are going to be using more than 16 different MIDI devices, then yes, you would need more ins and outs, but not until then...I am no MIDI pro, but as I understand it each in and out can handle16 channels of data...so, 16 IDI devices.

Only if you really need extra audio inputs. The 1010 is a very good interface and really stable and the drivers are kept up to date with M-Audio usually staying on top of things.

It does however only have the single midi i/o which if you do want to do as dB pointed out just daisy chain your other midi hardware that will work fine. It will only give you 16 channels of midi though so if you plan on using the Motif to its full capability and require the synths and MPC to play back more then 16 seperate insturments at once then you would need a multi-port midi interface which will allow you more then 16 channels at once.

And I do believe you can use the 1010LT with PTLE.

As for the snap at ya, sorry. You just seemed a bit impaitient with 2 post in 1 hour.

So my apologies for snappin at ya and takin it the wrong way.

If you have any other questions on the interface stuff let us know.
