I am using Cubase SX as my recording platform and using my MX802A Desk to monitor and input audio in conjuction with my Audiophile 2496 soundcard. My analogue female RCAs of the soundcard are connected to the tape in RCAs of the desk and my anologue RCA female ins of the soundcard are connected to the tape out phonos of the desk. The problem I am having is that when I record an audio track (ie vocals) it is picking up all the other tracks (MIDI and other audio) and recording them as well as my vocal on the audio track. As a novice perhaps I am missing an obvious set up solution. Can anyone help please - its driving me daft.
My gear is:
2.6GHz AMD Athlon processor
1Gb RAM
Audiophile 2496 Card
Yamaha MIDI Keyboard (used as controller)
Behringer Eurorack MX802A Mixing Desk
Windows XP
Cubase SX
Reason 2.5
Umpteen Guitars/mics effects etc.

Yup, Get away from the tape in tape out jacks. They are bussed. Most Berhinger mixers I have used also don't have the best sounding tape in and tape outs. Use main outs / Aux outs to feed your sound card. Sorry, can't remember what the 802 has for facilities, but use a stereo channel or external in to play back from the sound card into the board. You will like the results much better!
