I had a bad sector on the last hard drive i was using. the PC had 2 drives so i backed everything up on the second drive, but i need a new primary drive. Since they are the same brand of drive (generic 7200 60 gig drives)i really dont trust the back up as the primary. Do i have anything to really worry about or is there a certian type i should use?

Oct 18, 2004 09:01 pm Bad sectors happen to the best of us! In general, I would recommend Seagate hard drives, but that is just my personal preference. If you look on www.newegg.com, many of the hard drives have a couple (some 100+!) reviews from normal people. This helps me a lot when I seem to be looking at 5 different drives that all look the same.
Oct 18, 2004 09:03 pm I'd recommend TigerDirect from one of our link in the left column to help support hRC ;)
and I like Maxtor meself.
Oct 18, 2004 09:11 pm i have never had a problem with western digital hard drives ( i ave 5 or 6 in computers i own, some inter some external) and recommend them.
of course YMMV

Oct 19, 2004 08:48 pm Hey Benni, I'll send ya the last Western I'll ever buy. Of course it isnt good for much escept frying eggs on. Some peeps seem to have luck with them, but my luck is 3 bad drives out of 4, and Im waiting for the 4th one to crap out as well.
My personal is Seagate, with Maxtor a close second.
