i need a wave editor which alows you to put something like track marks or gaps in your recordings as you go. im trying to record a load of samples off minidisc into my pc, and itd be easier if i could tell the app to split them up automatically as i go...

ive got wavelab lite and audacity but neither do it as far as i can tell...any ideas?

Are you talking about like markers where you want them kind of like what you can do with Sonar? Or, actually cut a sound wave in pieces? I know Sound Forge can do that.

im thinking, press a button while its recording, and itll mark that place in the track somehow for reference...so i can come back and edit it later...

imagine youre recording a record onto pc. all the tracks will make one, right? i wanna be able to press a button or something so i know where one ends and another starts.

that kinda thing...

I'm pretty sure Audition will do this, I know it will in playback mode, and I'm pretty sure it will while recording as well. If you only need stereo recording, if you can find Cool Edit 2000 (which doesn't have the multi-track stuff) can do it as well and would be alot cheaper. Might find it on Ebay.

Flame...been meanin to get back to ya on that.

I think it may indeed do this but I just cant be sure.

However, I have done similar when converting my own records (old Beatles records) to digital. I just fired the audio in and stuck a marker between the tracks as I went. You'll easily see it on the wave anyways with it getting smaller. Then, just cut the sucka and stick the cut into a new file...voila!

Or, are you trying to avoid this whole manual job??

Sorry, bud, if so, canny help ya. I just it for mastering and normalising samples I get from the web!!

Coco.

Flame, you should be able to just drop markers as you go. I forget which key it is but Wavelab and SoundForge both do it while recording. I know I can set it up to drop them during silence in both apps.

I would imagine Wavelab lite should be able to do it as well.

There is a button on the tool bar that can drop markers...and that is a feature that lite may not have...
