Hey, I have tried to post this twice but I don't know if the first one actually worked so I am sorry if it did.
A while ago I asked about a problem I was having with Propellerhead Reason where I had no audio playback. You people gave me great advice and it worked.
However, one thing is still not working. I can play the individual mini-programs (i.e: Redrum) in their sections, but I just can't click on the playback button on the main timeline. It just won't let me. I can visibly see that I can click stop, pause or whatever, but the Play just doesn't seem to work. I can still export.
Anybody familiar with this?

Sep 06, 2004 05:53 pm If I am not mistaken these should be hooked to the main control of Reason via ReWire. I would first make sure they are running as ReWire dives directly in reason and that might do the trick. I know if I open Project 5 before I open Sonar it does the same thing. The pattern should be to open Resaon, then open each device you wish to control in Reason as a ReWire device inside of Reason. If this is not the case then I would look for a setting that locks them into the main control of Reason.
Again, I am not sure that is the problem, but I have a hunch it might be a place to start.

Sep 07, 2004 01:15 am Hmmm, this is strange. Is your Reason a promotional version? If I remember right, they were giving a copy away with M-Audio products for a while. Maybe this is not a fully enabled version that you have? Or do you have anything sequenced, in one of the modules other than ReDrum, like say the subtractor synth. Maybe it won't let you press play if you don't have any notes for it to play. Sorry if this sounds too simple, but you gotta start somewhere.
I don't think this is a ReWire issue, though I've never messed with ReWire before and have no idea what it is. But I do get stuff to play on Reason without knowing what ReWire is.
Sep 08, 2004 02:29 pm Hmm... I don't really know anything about ReWire. I tried to find some stuff in the help files but I really couldn't make much sense of it.
I'm not sure if my Reason is promotional but I did get it from a friend who says that his works fine. When I load up my Reason, it automatically loads the sample song which I can export and listen to, just not play on the main timeline.
Thanks for your help people, I will just have to mess around I guess.
Sep 08, 2004 02:57 pm Ah, I just reinstalled it and it is all working. I have no idea what was wrong, but who cares as long as it's fixed. Thanks for the help guys, this place is very helpful.

Sep 08, 2004 09:32 pm That was gonna be my next suggestion is to do that. Sometimes that is what it takes to fix it as some programs have buggy installers and fail on occasion.
