Fresh from the DAW and looking for feedback. I think my singing is slowly getting better but if it's not, please let me know. Thanks for having a listen.

Bennis,

"Better" is such a subjective term. Yes, I see improvements over your last piece (from what I remember). Your voice seems stronger and more confident. In terms of staying on pitch, you are doing better, but still have a ways to go.

One thing that about your song that makes it hard to sing is that there isn't much in your music to sing along with, and help your voice find the notes. Perhaps you could add a piano playing the melody line to sing along with when you lay down your vocals, and then take it out in the final mix. (Take it from another melodically challenged singer...it really helps!)

All in all, it's a great song, and you've done a great job laying down the tracks and mixing it up! Keep on rockin'!

Never thought of adding an instrument to sing along with...

I think that's a great idea, I'll make sure to try that when I get a chance. Thanks for the feedback.

Aye..I go with Jim on this one buddy.

Its definitely an improvement from your last song and I think all Jims comments stand up for me too.

Another instrument will give ya another thing to aim for/use for the melody etc and this'll improve your vocals without doubt (I do this myself often and it works a treat).

Good luck and its another good effort - mixing is good etc and its no bad at all...

guitar jim is on the money.. with my old singer, he had a lot of pitch problem and we had keyboard play his notes... then we deleted the keys tracks... worked pretty good but he wasnt perfect... it may work for you, good luck

Well, I tried laying down a piano (on a different song) adn I think I got worse!

So in light of that, I'm asking if anyone here would care to do the vocals to any of my songs? I would love to hear what they sound like with the vocals of someone who can acctualy sing, to see if the tracks really take off. If anyone expresses interest we can work out the details.

All my songs are here:www.acidplanet.com/artist...1393&T=9889

Also, if anyone would still like to critique the mix of this song (192kbps mp3), I would be very thankful.

Hey Bennis

I am no great singer so don't pay over much attention to this other than to take some encouragement from someone who sounded much the same as you a few years ago in terms of the vocal issue you are having (tho I dont think its all that bad) just now. Also, I think your singing is not that bad at all - I think you mibbe need a bit of confidence in yerself and just go for it man...care not if it comes oot bad...I remember trying to sing something recently and it took me at least 2 DOZEN takes as I sang too high, too low, out of key, in key but to quiet, etc - AND I WROTE THE BLOODY SONG!!!! :-)

I done similar type stuff to yourself and the only reason some of my singing is getting a bit better now is because I just kept on doing it. As I say, I consider my voice to be my worst tool in my arsenal (gi me a big amp and geetar and I'll "sing" all night with ma plectrum and axe) - but seriously man, yi do get it in the end.

I sing by default cause I am the one man band type (tho I am still better than the last "proper" singer I worked with in ma last band :-) - he sounded like a cat being strangled which is all fine and dandy except he honestly THOUGHT he was Mick Jagger or something and even slagged everyone else off for singing badly - geez!!).

Anyway, point here is before I go off on another tangent - having someone else sing would be cool to hear your song done by another and its always cool to collab. But, DONT GIVE IT UP. It does get easier and when you start hearing yourself increase a bit range, its a good feelin I can tell ya. As I say, I sing by default and I genuinely dont consider myself any singer per-se, but, I am definitely a million times better than I was when I used to stand on top of a stack playin lead thinkin I was Slash or something!!!

Keep goin bud and all the best...

Rant from Coco over with hardly any slang even if I do say so...masel!!

I Loved the bass line. flows nicely. good song!!!

As far as your singing goes i thik the general chat has been right. you really need to go for it. especially with that song as it commands a very strong vocal track given the lack of instruments ( which i like ).

I wouldnt worry to much about hitting the right notes at this point - that will come - i think your breathing and technique is where you should focus.

Great stuff though
