I just ordered the 2 effects cards for my Roland. Is that enough or would it be better to use a tube mic pre-amp going in to the recorder first. Also, is there some gear I can use between the recorder and the CD burner for mastering? thanks.

Apr 04, 2002 04:55 am I dunno about the burner/mastering deal, I don't htink there is as your mastering should be done on the unit. I would definatly preamp the mic as well as compress it before it goes into the Roland. Compression is an effect best used (at least some) on vocals before it even hits the sound card or recording unit...

Apr 04, 2002 11:33 pm As dB said, I prefer to use compression going into the recording. But I have compressed after in the app. You can probably do the same on the VS, but if you can pop for an outboard compressor it is well worth the money spent.

Apr 06, 2002 10:38 am I have to admit, I do like the new format, smoother, less cumbersome, and it's kinda pretty with all these little smiley face's.
