I want to record my guitar into my computer, will the SB audigy zs platinium card do the job?
It comes with friutyloops and cubase. Are they any good or limited versions. Second, i have a digital out on my gt-6 pedal. What cable do i need to connect it to my computer and where do i connect it? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Dunno aboot Audigy's..I mentioned in another post many folks told me to steer clear of these.

I opted for M-Audio and never looked back.

Methinks, if you have digital out you will need a card with S/PDIF ins...

Good luck

How much is the audigy card going to cost you? And is the only purpose of the card to record the guitar? If so, you might be able to get a way better recording card for just a few more buckaroos.

For instance, the m-audio 2496 is only $99 at musicians friend. That is a quality recording card if you are only recording one instrument/mic at a time.

in short... NO. lol

I started on an audigy and in my opinion the card is horrible... for the money that you are going to spend on one of those you could get a decent card that was REALLY meant for recording, such as a m-audio card.

The SB will record your guitars, but so will any other soundcard. The software that comes with the Audigy is limited version, but it is software that works, but only with the audigy.

As far as connecting your pedal, by digital do you mean SPDIF?

Yes, what kind of cable do i need for this?

What is a good card for under 200 bucks?
Thanks

I use and audigy 2 EX and I hate it. Actually I dont really care for comuter recording anymore. I'm going to save and get a Alesis HD24 and send to computer for final touches if needed. Until then I will get by on what I have..

If it was me, I would by the Maudio, NOT the Audigy.

Don't let your opinion of PC recording be swayed becasue of a crappy card.

Besides, the HD24 is the same thing, only difference is it's a computer the only records and doesn't do all the cool stuff other computers can do too...

The HD24 is "almost" the same thing. Except it's a 24 track direct in unit with removeable drive bays, Easily connects to the mixer, has great DA's on and on.. To me it's the way to go. IMO

My PC is an unlimited track unit with removable bays, easily connects to my mixer and has nice D/A's too :-) It's recording 1's and 0's. All digital data. Same destination, different route.

Regardless, if it works for ya, good luck with it. I hope you record many great songs and bring them here so we can hear them :-)

Stranglerfig, I checked out your website and was impressed with the photography, very nice. I went to the media section to listen and there is nothing live, just titles. Are you going to put up music there? Just curious to listen.
