OK..I have a few pounds to spend (DONT tell the wife) and I am SERIOUSLY considering buying Wavelab 4...
I currently use Sound Forge but I've read so much good stuff aboot Wave Lab that I am thinking it could be the answer to the perfect master I crave.
I love Sound Forge but to me, I just aint getting all I want from it. Its a great app but alas, there may be better oot there. I also have the chance to buy Wavelab 4 for aboot £300 (seen an ad in a mag today)
Would anyone recommend the purchase, based on my circumstances with software etc. I like Steinberg stuff using C/base SX as my main app.
All inputs much appreciated...
Coco.

Jul 22, 2004 01:45 am I have both, SF all the way.
Jul 22, 2004 04:35 am I used both, used to have both, WaveLab smokes SF, SF is clumsy and not as intuitive. With WaveLab 5 the gap has only gotten bigger.
Jul 22, 2004 06:47 am Aye..I had heard Wavelab is "the" essential audio editor on the market.
I like Forge, dont get me wrong but there seems to be an edge to Wavelab according to most pundits and reviewers.
Still, I thank you both for the responses...its good to see differing opinions actually - good to hear both sides of the coin.
I do find Forge slightly cumbersome at times. What interests me is the batch processing and the plugs available with Wavelab..Forge is all DirectX but Wavelab with its VST's appeals as am a Cubase user...
Im edging towards that magazine, credit card in hand... :-)

Jul 23, 2004 12:41 am Yeah that magazine is da bomb!!! I may get the yank version.
*I used SF for about 5 years, and got used to it. Then I got a good deal on WL, but kept going back to SF, because of familiarity/ laziness I guess. But there is no denying that CD architect rocks~!
The Sony Noise reduction rules too.
Jul 23, 2004 06:22 am Aye..that magazine is indeed the bomb.
I just got a catalouge thru from a company called Turnkey (they are UK based but deal in Europe too - not USA sadly).
Anyway, I spied an Akai Voice thingy, it doubles up your voice with a harmony based on a few presets. I thought - for £50 (RRP is £250) its top! Controlled by a pedal and would be ideal for when I play live..AYE - sold right oot!
To make matters worse - the dopey guy on the phone couldnt answer my question - so shuffled some papers and hung up! DIPSTICK!
I WONT be phoning them again! Shame tho, they have the M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 for £69.99! Way cheap...
I have a Delta 44 anyway but thought it would be handy for a spare or for another PC.
Anyways
Wavelab will be bought. I have deceided .. spent the last 2 days checkin reviews and its coming at Coco soon!
