Loooong past over-due. :)

P4 3.0 Ghz (800meg FSB, 1m cashe)
160 gig HD
1 gig DDRAM @ 533MHz
48x CD-RW & 8x DVD-RW
128 ATI PCI Express video
Dual 17" Monitors
Sound Blaster LIVE! 5.1 sound

Now, I do alot of VST keyboard stuff and one man band recording. If I upgrade to a Audiophile 2496 will that give me very low latency? Or would the Delta 44 be a better choice over all?

Audiophile and Delta 44 will give you almost identical latency, they are both Delta series cards and use virtual the exact same drivers...

Get the Delta and forget the Live, save yourself the money...

Looks niceeee..I am considering a new PC.

The wife is always taking over mine, even tho I've tweaked it for my music, have every "useless contraption (as she would put it)" under the sun in the way and generally make it as un-wife friendly as possible!!

So..am looking to get a custom built PC. Similar spec to yours but just using ma own Delta 44 card.

The 2496 is a good card. Latency is good as is the Delta 44 (similar to Delta but with break out box).. Both cards have low latency - in fact, all the M-Audio stuff seems to be good from what I can gather.

Good luck and have fun with the new system.

Coco.

Lost for words with all to say.

Kick A$$!!

Got to love a new system. Any type of brand or custom built??

If you are getting the 5.1 for gaming, whatever sound card you get for recording will do just as good or better. My Delta 1010 works great for gaming, better then the 5.1 Live that I had. But then again, most of the time 5.1 comes intragrated in the board.

It's not a custom built. I ordered a Dell. Could have saved some cash if I built it myself, but I've owned a Dell previously and beat the hell out of it. It's worth a extra $ for the quality. As for the 5.1, it came with the PC. I just spent $20 extra to get the PCI one, not intergrated on the motherboard. That stuff sucks. I'll probably use it for day to day use and a Delta 44 for recording. We'll see... maybe I'll just sell it on ebay. Thanks for all your help guys!

Cheers!
