I am looking to buy a new soundcard and would appreciate some advice. i need something with around four audio inputs, at least two simultaneuosly. prefereably a couple of midi inputs. external would be better as it makes things alot easier to see and keeps wires and stuff out the way. what kind of price am i looking at for something like this? is there anything else i should know such as compatability and so on, or is it a case of plug in and play?
thanks alot

It's external so compatiblity isn't a huge problem, and comes with software that Cakewalk's Sonar new look and feel was based on.

Jul 21, 2004 06:23 am I'd have a similar question with different requirements (I'm a one man band, so four inputs are not critical for example). Does anyone know of a resource that tables the key elements of souncards against a rough price guide? Number of inputs, SNR, etc. It might save a few questions from newcomers such as myself.
Thanks

Do a search on sound cards. That will give you a price list, probably have to click each one to see a description though.
Jul 21, 2004 08:05 am for a one man band, the price/feature ratio, it's hard to beat the M-Audio Audiophile 2496. 24/96 reso, MIDI, S/PDIF, analog, ASIO, WDM and MME great sound low price...can't beat it.
