How does this stand alone multitrack rate? Have not been able to find any reviews. If you were to pick between the Tascam 2488 24 track and the Yamaha AW16G which would you choose? And "no" (at this time)I do not want to go the PC route for my recording applications.

My brother has the Roland 2480, and he loves it. It may be more than the tascam, I dont know. The standalones are getting more friendly with the pc plugins though. His also serves as a standalone 24 track digital mixer,I think with automation if Im right, which is almost worth the price itself.

I understand the no pc attitude, I wish I could have both, honestly.

Yeah that Roland 2480 is more than 3 grand. The Tascam 2488 lists for $1200. I'm on a pc enough at work and we have only one computer at home to share, so the pc recording idea just doen't work. I just need it for songwriting and don't want to worry about ping ponging anything. Know what I mean? So does anyone own or has used that Tascam 2488?

I've got the 2480 and like it very, much. Out of the two you mentioned I'd go with the yamaha.

I've got the tascam 2488 neo, and I love that thing.. I've got zero experience with the yamaha, but the tascam is a beast. Very intuitive and easy to use, as well as having some decent mastering options. Phantom power is also pretty handy. I've made the same decision that you are making right now, and I wen't with the tascam.. Hope that helps..
