Need help in morphing/fading process (?) in CEP

Hey all. Most of you are smarter than me with this stuff and this is one technique I have always wanted to learn how to do. I'll use a song that I'm working on now for an example.

The first 4 measures of my guitar I have applied an effect so it sounds like an old radio. Now I want the old radio sound to fade into the normal acoustic guitar sound quickly and smoothly and with a volume increase.

This is what it sounds like as of now. I just feel like its not quite there.

There are a lot of bands that do this and I've wondered how. I hope you can understand/picture what I'm trying to do. I can't really get it to fade smoothly. I'm using Cool Edit Pro 2.0 if it makes a difference. Any type of direction/hints will give me something to play with. Thanks

i hear ya, what you need is an app where you can ajust the ammount of an effect it has running on it, which i dont think cool edit does.

why not have it change where the drums kick in instead? that where i EXPECTED it to change...

this is gonna be a top song, sounds ace! what did ya record the guitars with?

Ya you're right about the drums. I need to get a kit to record some real drums..that was just out of my keyboard. Thanks for the tip. I record everything into my Boss BR-8 and mix down with Cool Edit. I don't know the least bit about plugins or anything. I'm actually looking to get some serious software to edit/mix, what would you recommend if I am coming from CEP?

For equipment I've been stocking up on a lot of mics from Guitar Center. I get a pretty good discount since I buy so much. That song I recorded with a Marshall 991 pointed at the 12th fret. A Marshall 990 sitting about 1.5 feet in front of me. And an Oktava 012 up near the head of the guitar for fun. That recording is totally flat and not mixed AT ALL. I paid $99 for both Marshall mics and I think they do a good job. Can't beat the price really...

Atom, if you're using a BR-8 and that effect is one of the onboard COSM's, then maybe you could bounce the track over to another, while adding/subtracting the effect LEVEL on the fly ... or do the same on it's way into Cool Edit ? I've got an example of exactly what you're talking about on my music... it's listed under 'instrumental', and called 'psychadellic fade out' . Hope this helps . I agree with Flame there, nice guitars .

Actually, you can do this in CEP. While you are in multitrack mode, make sure all your toolbars are turned on (check in view > toolbars, I forget which specific one you need, so turn 'em all on). What you are looking for are volume, and wet/dry mix envelopes. You can draw automation curves on your wave blocks in the multitrack so that you can fade how wet the effect is, and fade the volume. If you need a little more detailed explination, let me know.
