Soundcard Again??

I'm sorry to bring up this matter again.

I'm setting up a PC by the end of this week and most of the applications will be music producing. (softwares: Sonar 3, Fruity Loops 4, Steinberg Wavelab, Platinum Waves Effects)

I'll be recording only an instrument at a time with it and most of the times I'll be bringing back home raw studio recorded tracks (drums, basses, vocals - all in 24bits/96kHz) for me to mix and master. I also have a habit of touching up songs with Cakewalk's default midi sound clips and uses headphones for mixing.

I have already decided to get the Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro until I read your forums regarding the M-Audios and its qualities. I've been to M-Audio's website but still confused.

Which M-Audio product should I choose (budgeting $200-$300)?

Thanks

M-Audio, Audiophile 2496 if you are doing one instrument at a time. service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear It's like the SB with stero ins and outs, MIDI ins and out plus S/PDIF digital ins and outs, MUCH higher quality, better ASIO drivers (which all you apps support) and will run at a MUCH lower latency.

SB's are not meant for recording, tho some people do well with them.

Just my opinion

I second that recommendation, as a 2496 owner myself. I've had nothing but good luck and great sound with it.

The emu 1212 is a scary card in that price range.
The convertors are the best out right now.

The audio processing doesnt use your cpu either. This is an emu product, but creative bought them. I think they have hit the market with a bang , finally. I was wondering when sb would come out with a studio card, I am sure they had the r&d, AND the money to do it.

Ok, who moved it..??
