Audio Hardware Help Needed

Hey everyone,
Being new to the forum, I'm not sure what kind of response I'll get (especially because I'm only partially aware of what's going on, let alone the underlying problem).
Essentially, I've been attempting to turn my PC into a recording monstrosity. I've so far plugged into it an M-Audio Firewire 410 as a recording interface via the firewire port in my Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS. I've been running my PC sound through the former as it's got the nice monitor speakers hooked up to it. I'm trying to set up Cubase SL 2.2 for use with this rig.
My problem is that my computer has recently taken a liking to restarting with seemingly no prompting. At one point, it did so after I had attempted to set the MIDI Out field in Cubase to the Firewire. This has happened when I've not even been using my computer. To the best of my knowledge, I've got no viruses or anything of that ilk on my machine, so I'm a tad confused as to what kind of hardware/software conflict would be causing this. Any help would be VERY much appreciated.

No idea. Maybe if you list some details about your computer, it'll spark some ideas though.

I had a friend take a look at my (now OLD) box and the judgement was made that I had too small a power supply in my computer to properly juice up all of the gadgets I had installed. This was rectified by a slightly frivolous decision to build a completely new PC for the purpose. Maybe not elegant in its simplicity, but it seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks for the assist!
