I recently bought a terratec EWS88 MT soundcard with 8 i/o breakout box. After spending weeks trying to setup the card and install the driver. At last it is installed correctly. Just wondered is anyone could provide me wiv some tips on configuring the card. I cant hear any output from the card, but when I plug my guitar into the first input I cant see the line monitor moving when I play. Can anyone help please....
ive tried calling the tec help but they are all russian and I cant understand them!
Cheers

Jun 10, 2004 09:13 am I know nothing about this specific card, but I have heard a lot of issues with Terratec in the past, but that many issues were resolved with driver updates. My first recommendation is to go to their web site and make sure you have the newest drivers available for the card.
Also, I hope you are not plugging you guitar straight in to the card, but going thru a mixer or some sort of preamp first...

Jun 10, 2004 10:53 am Check signal routing in settings, set Digital Mixer to PCI out 1/2, connect your stereo speakers to out 1/2. All inputs when will be routed to out 1/2.
Jun 16, 2004 06:27 am Thanks for your help, I can now hear system sounds. What is the best way to setup the card. So that i can hear what is going into all the inputs. I am recording in cubase my problem is - if I want to record from input 1,2,3 and 4 I cant hear every track. I thought I would be able to hear every input from the main output on the PCI soundcard.
Cheers

Jun 16, 2004 06:44 am Sounds like you need to enable all your CST inputs in Cubase. I usually have to enable them everytime I start a new project file. By default, channels 1 & 2 are enabled and the others may require you to take manual action by surfing through the menus in Cubase.

Jun 16, 2004 06:52 am You have 8 main outputs (RCA) and even one digital output on the box. First two can be used as virtual mixer outputs, so you can use them for monitoring. Set them as a main output in cubase settings. It is the most simple way.
Jun 28, 2004 03:39 pm Hi Ian, I don't know if you are still monitoring this thread, or if my advice applies, seeing that I have the digital version of your card (EWS88D) but try this, see if it works if you haven't already solved your problem. If you are using the multimedia driver for output you will only hear output from windows or an assigned softsynth ( the digital mixer does not access it ). try using another dedicated out driver and see if this gives you output. Hope this helps.
