I don't want to record with a cable from my sound card to an out to an in and record, the results weren't too clean sounding. I just need a good, free, small application that records all sound off of my soundcard. I've searched download.com but none of them work right... anyone know of a good one?
thanks!

Jun 02, 2004 12:19 pm This is just so i can record streaming audio/other random stuff easily and most importantly quickly. I don't want to have to fuss with Sonar or Cool Edit, this are more or less scratch recordings. Thanks!

Jun 02, 2004 12:40 pm what are you recording? if its insturments/vox how do you plan on getting it "into" your computer without using a cable of some sort. (even midi) there are free multi-track programs here:www.homerecordingconnecti...st&cat_id=4
i guess im just a little fuzzy on what youre doing.
Jun 02, 2004 12:58 pm Well... mainly it's just to take mp3's recorded from my band's practice (originally recorded from a mini-disc), play over them with some VST's (NI's B4), and have all the audio coming from the speakers (mp3 + VST) be recorded to a file. You can do this in Sonar and stuff, but that takes too much time/computer power on my old machine to do. Soooo... doing it this way (I know its Ghetto but it works) it easiest/quickest. Again, I'm not looking for quality, its just a scratch recording to see how instrument parts sound with one another and for writing purposes.

Jun 03, 2004 07:35 am wav recorder in windows will do it. but whatever program youre using to put the vst stuff onto the mp3 should do it too. I still dont think i fully understand...
Jun 03, 2004 12:14 pm The VST (Native Instrument's B4) is a stand-alone program, which runs a million times faster on my machine than if I can it through Sonar. If I try to run Sonar and B4 together, the quality of the VST sucks and skips and junk. Hope that makes sense (although I dont ;) ) Thanks for helping!

Jun 03, 2004 12:19 pm Perhaps it is not properly registering with the VST wrapper, VST wrappers can be problematic at times...
