Moving recorded music files to a new computer

I'm desperate, so I really hope someone can help me quickly. I am using cakewalk Music Creator 2003 and have finished recording. I have been using a toshiba laptop and now have purchased a COMPAC PC. I have got the cakewalk program and downloaded the program for TASCAM US-122 interface and it works fine. The problem is when I saved my music files on the laptop to a CD as a data file, the PC opens it without the sound. All the info is there except for the sound. I shows a message regarding external audio not being there. Any ideas?

check the audio settings in cakewalk as a starter and make sure they relate to the soundcard youre using and what have you...and the sound control panel, to ensure nothings muted that shouldnt be...

not a cakewalk expert myself though, so im badgered beyond that.

surgetek33, when you saved the files did you save as a bundle (.bun) file or just as a work (.wrk) file? If you saved them as a wrok file you will need to transfer the audio files to the new PC as well. Since saving as a work file will save the audio to a seperate file this is probably what happened. When you save the files as bundle files every bit of data including audio is saved as one file for transfer to another machine.

I would suggest you go back into the laptop and resave the files as bundle files and then make the transfer to the other PC. Doing this should let you open the files and the audio will be along with them.

Hopefully you havent purged the original files from the laptop.
